The Manitex A62 gives utility, municipal and contractor crews a 62′ maximum operating height and 38′ maximum outreach on a Ford F-550 chassis. Its two-person aluminum basket is rated for 500 lbs, providing room for two operators and their equipment.
The telescopic aerial operates from -15° below horizontal to +75°, while the turret provides 700° of non-continuous rotation. Hydraulic basket rotation provides 90° of movement to either side, helping operators position themselves at the work area without constantly repositioning the truck. Cables and hydraulic hoses are routed internally through the boom for protection.
Four hydraulic stabilizers provide a 7′ 6″ spread, with controls accessible from both sides of the truck. An outrigger monitoring system, emergency lowering hand pump, emergency engine stop and operator foot pedal are included as part of the unit’s operating and safety equipment.
Power comes from the 6.7L Ford Power Stroke diesel producing 300 HP, paired with Ford’s 10R140 automatic transmission. With a 19,500-lb GVWR and an overall completed-unit length of approximately 29′ 3″, this configuration puts 62′ of working height on a relatively compact Class 5 truck.
