ABM Equipment History

ABM was founded in 1980 as a supplier of electric utility equipment. To start, our solutions included new and used aerial devices, digger derricks, and service bodies as well as parts, maintenance and repair services. Today, this line of products is still our core business.  But we’ve expanded into a full-line truck equipment supplier for electric utilities.  We also manufacture custom truck equipment to meet our customer’s unique needs.

In 1984, ABM added a refuse line of products which includes front, rear & side loading garbage trucks, recycling equipment, roll-offs, hook lifts, garbage carts, tarping systems, compactors & bailers. We also offer trash loaders for transfer station applications.

In 1987, ABM purchased the Highway Manufacturing company from Dorsey Trailer Company in Edgerton, WI. Highway Manufacturing produces pressure diggers and foundation drill equipment for the electric utility industry as well as foundation drilling contractors.

In 1991 we formed a municipal equipment division and added equipment lines to support the street and water departments of state, city, and county agencies as well as contractors. These lines include street sweepers, sewer cleaning equipment, asphalt patchers, inspection camera systems, and other products.

In 1995, we expanded once again and formed a construction division aimed at more of the contractor markets. We added boom trucks, knuckle boom cranes, truck-mounted forklifts, field service truck packages, and lube trucks as well as air compressors, generators, and crane attachments.

In 2021, ABM was acquired by Heartland Equity Partners of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota. The company was renamed to ABM Equipment, LLC.
